Kolb Aircraft Information

SSDR is here and the Firefly offeres true seat of the pants flying with excellent performance and real aeroplane construction ant affordable price.£8900 incl vat for the kit.

Kolb have been building aircraft kits since the early 80‘s. The design was a creation of the well known Homer Kolb. The design encompases simple but very strong construction of a welded 4130 steel cockpit cage, and all other integral parts are 6061 T6 aluminium. The wings are of rib and spar design and boast huge 6 inch main spars, and all Kolb aircraft have folding wings as standard and truly panoramic visibility with the engine in pusher configuration.
STOL Performance of course.
Currently in the UK the MkIII Twinstar and the MkIII Xtra are type approved kit build aircraft, with plans in the future to introduce the single seat FireFly.

The Firefly is a significant breakthrough in ultralight aircraft design. The Firefly was designed to be a legal ultralight with the twin cylinder 40HP Rotax 447 engine installed.

This single seat Firefly is a legal ultralight with a Rotax 447 engine. Features 10 minute wing folding. Quick-build option available for the Firefly. The Quick-buid option represents approximately 50% of the building / assembling time of the aircraft.
